元阳梯田，位于云南省红河州元阳县的哀牢山南部，是哈尼族人世世代代留下的杰作。元阳梯田是红河哈尼梯田的核心区。红河哈尼梯田是以哈尼族为主的各族人民利用特殊地理气候同垦共创的梯田农耕文明奇观，规模宏大，气势磅礴。元阳哈尼族开垦的梯田随山势地形变化，坡缓地大则开垦大田，坡陡地小则开垦小田，甚至沟边坎下石隙也开田，因而梯田大则有数亩，小则仅有簸箕大，往往一坡就有成千上万亩。

Yuanyang Terraces, located in the southern part of Ailao Mountain in Yuanyang County, Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, is a masterpiece left by the Hani people from generation to generation. Yuanyang Terraces is the core area of the Honghe Hani Terraces. The Honghe Hani Terraces are a wonder of terraced farming civilization created by the Hani people and other ethnic groups using the special geographical climate. They are large in scale and magnificent. The terraces reclaimed by the Yuanyang Hani people change with the terrain of the mountains. They reclaim large fields on gentle slopes and small fields on steep slopes. They even reclaim fields in the stone gaps under the ditches. Therefore, the terraces are as large as several acres and as small as a winnowing basket. Often there are tens of thousands of acres on one slope.
